Frequently Asked Questions

Question: What class do I sign my child up for?

Answer: Good question! That depends on the age and ability level of your child! At Inspired to Move Dance Academy, we group our students by ability level to ensure that they get the most effective training for each of their classes!

Ages 1.5 - 2.5 begin their dance education with a Mommy/Daddy/Guardian and Me style class called Dance with Me! This class offers a safe environment for our tiniest dancers to engage in developmentally appropriate dance exploration and creative movement exercises. It gives them the ability to learn how to participate in a class setting and get acquainted with their teacher without having to give up the comfort of having their parent nearby.

Ages 2.5 – 4 experience their first class in an option called Discover Dance! This class gives students the opportunity to try out multiple styles of dance with moves that are appropriate for their age and ability level.

Ages 4 – 6 are ready for our “Pre” and “Petite” classes! We offer a variety of styles for this age group as we feel it is important for our dancers to have the opportunity to explore each genre that they’d like to try!

Ages 6 and up are ready for our leveled classes! We offer level 1 classes for students aged 6-8 and level 1b classes for students aged 9 and up. At Inspired to Move Dance Academy it is never too late to learn to love dance! We offer beginning classes for all ages!

Our level 2-4 classes are by teacher placement only. We follow a syllabus for each class and it is not uncommon for a dancer to spend 2 or more years at each level. Only when an instructor feels that a dancer has met all expectations from a syllabus will they be moved up. Student report cards are given out each Spring to let students know how they are progressing!

Question: What does my child need on their first day of class?

Answer: A positive attitude and a willingness to learn! Unless your child is signing up for ballet, there is no strict dress code. They can come to class in anything that they find comfortable! Leggings, shorts, t-shirts, or tank tops are all appropriate for taking class! They may want to bring a water bottle into class with them as well!

Question: Do you have a recital and does my child have to participate?

Answer: Yes! We are proud to offer two performance opportunities to our dancers throughout the year! In the Winter, we do a performance of “The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus,” and in the Spring, we offer a more formal Spring Recital.

No, your child does not have to participate! However, most of our dancers enjoy being on the stage and look forward to these events! If it doesn’t fit into your schedule to participate, just let us know and we will accommodate you however we can!

Question: How much does it cost? How much is tuition? Do we have to sign up for the entire year?

Answer: One 45-60 min class per week will cost $48 per month. There is also a yearly $15 registration fee with a $25 per family cap. You may see our Tuition page for multiple class discounts!

We offer a sibling discount and a military discount to our families to show our appreciation for your business! We know you have multiple options for dance studios in our area and are very grateful for your business!

No, you do not have to sign up for the entire year! We register new students year round! However, for performance purposes, it is more convenient if your dancer commits for a full semester at a time. September through December classes will perform in our Winter Production and January through June classes will perform in our Spring Recital. We plan our costumes and choreography early on so if you know you aren’t going to commit for the semester, let us know and we’ll do our best to accommodate your family!
